On Peace

The most beautiful place in the world waiting for you

The news is full of the most awful politics, the most tragic conflict and the most heart-wrenching personal circumstances. We can’t escape it – there are so many challenges to face as we walk run, run or tip-toe through life.

But what if we all said no together? There is a fundamental truth behind all violent conflict between humans. It is a choice of someone somewhere to participate in it.
Often there are arguments made that around beliefs that choices are ‘narrow’, ‘too few’, ‘constructed so that only violence can bring about change’, ‘humans are inevitably violent’.
Those choices only become reality if people enact them. It’s a wild dream, but its one to hang on to:

If humankind can construct violence, then it can construct peace.

If individuals can create violent situations, then they can also create harmonious and peaceful ones.

If communities can foster marginalisation and division, then they can also foster inclusiveness and unity.

If leaders can incite violence in the name of nationalism/religion/ political freedom, then they can also inspire creative communication and cooperation for the same purposes.

If an aggressiveness partner can command fear and obedience by intimidation, then they can also receive respect and love through respecting and loving.

It is a dream. It is my dream. Is it your dream?
What if we all woke up one day with the same dream?
Put down the guns, knives, power-plays,  egos, and go fishing for peace.
The most beautiful place in the world is waiting for you.
