‘On Tuesday, February 22 at 12.51pm Christchurch city suffered a severe 6.3 magnitude aftershock (following the 7.1 magnitude earthquake which rocked the city on September 4 last year). There have been multiple fatalities in this latest event.’http://canterburyearthquake.org.nz/
Christchurch is a beautiful place and the whole of the Canterbury region is breathtaking. I have been fortunate to visit there on a number of occasions and have been embraced by the people and the city in general.
My heart goes out to those who are suffering and I wish for you some peace in life – some moments of quiet where this tragedy is not consuming your thoughts and you can simply be.
I know that people of New Zealand will hold one another tight as you face this terrible event and begin to rebuild your lives – and we you neighbors in Oz will be keeping you close as well – giving you our hearts and hugs and doing what we can to help out as the rebuilding begins and lives are grieved for, as children are comforted and your elderly are cared for and as the mums and dads, the workers, the carers, the ones who hold responsibilities in public office all do what is needed in this darkest of times.
Look up to the light and try not to be overwhelmed by the dark- take something from those who can still smile, lean on the strong and assist those struggling wherever you can, and keep your feet moving forward and your lives will follow. We send you our love.
